Marine Corps Birthday

On this day 236 years ago while sitting in Philadelphia at Tun Tavern the Continental Congress approved a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines.  The United States Marines began recruiting in Tun Tavern, a combination bar and brothel. And, to this day, it is said that good Marines are never far from either.*

If you find yourself fortunate enough to today to find a Marine, thank him or her for their service and remember those who are unable to celebrate this day here at home. It is today, 10 November, that we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps and remember those who have served and continue to uphold the honors and traditions of the United States Marine Corps. Thank you and Semper Fi!

To all Marines, especially Bandon Erhardt, Semper Fidelis and Happy 236th Birthday. For 236 glorious years those of us lucky enough to serve as Marines have been protecting our Nation, our colors, and our way of life from threats both foreign and domestic. There is truly nothing quite like being titled Marine.
